Join Our Team as a Locum Doctor (Short Term Contract)
We are currently seeking a Locum Doctor to provide professional medical services on a short-term basis. This is an urgent requirement with immediate placement, offering a rare opportunity to work in one of the most breathtaking environments in the world while contributing meaningfully to the health and wellbeing of guests and staff.
This position is based on-site at Sandies Bathala Beach & Water Villas, a self-contained island resort where medical support is a core component of our guest services. The selected candidate will provide critical primary care, health consultations, and emergency treatment to resort visitors and personnel, ensuring both safety and peace of mind in a remote setting.
Job Responsibilities
As the Locum Doctor, your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Medical Evaluation & Treatment
Conduct physical examinations for both guests and staff, diagnose medical conditions, and provide appropriate treatment. Administer first aid as needed and respond promptly to any medical emergencies within the resort. -
Health Promotion & Prevention
Offer professional advice to encourage healthy living among team members and guests. Provide preventive care including vaccinations and general wellness consultations. -
Patient Referrals
When necessary, coordinate patient transfers to external medical facilities for advanced care. Liaise with regional hospitals, clinics, and emergency services to ensure continuity of treatment and patient safety. -
Inventory Management
Maintain stock levels of medicines, manage medical supplies, and ensure that all first aid kits around the property are fully replenished and accessible. -
Clinic & Equipment Hygiene
Oversee the cleanliness and operational condition of all medical facilities, including guest and staff clinics. Ensure all medical tools and equipment are properly sanitized and maintained. -
Policy Compliance & Confidentiality
Keep accurate patient records and strictly adhere to resort policies, including those related to medical insurance. Maintain full confidentiality regarding guest and staff health information. -
Team Collaboration
Work in partnership with resort management, HR, and departmental supervisors to support wellness programs and ensure a health-conscious work environment.
Qualification & Experience Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Educational Background
Possession of a BBS/MBBS degree with a postgraduate qualification, diploma, or equivalent recognized by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council (MMDC). A valid license to practice medicine in the Maldives is mandatory. -
Professional Experience
A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a recognized medical facility. Prior experience as a resort or travel doctor, especially in luxury hospitality settings in the Maldives, will be a distinct advantage. -
Clinical Competence
Strong diagnostic and treatment skills, with the ability to handle general medicine cases, emergency care, and minor trauma independently. -
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Proficient in English with excellent verbal and written communication. The ideal candidate should demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and an empathetic approach to care. -
Adaptability
Willingness to work in a remote island environment, handle the challenges of resource-limited settings, and remain calm under pressure.
