Emerald Faarufushi is seeking an experienced Junior Sous Chef to join its dynamic culinary team. This role is integral to maintaining the resort’s commitment to world-class gastronomy. The successful candidate will assist in leading the kitchen team, ensure culinary excellence across multiple outlets, and uphold the resort’s reputation for delivering exceptional dining experiences.

🧑‍🍳 Key Responsibilities

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will play a key leadership role in our kitchen operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Assisting the Sous Chef and Executive Chef in supervising kitchen operations and managing culinary staff.
Preparing and presenting high-quality dishes with consistency and creativity across a variety of cuisines.
Ensuring proper food hygiene and safety standards are maintained at all times.
Supporting the development of new menu items and contributing to seasonal menu changes.
Training and mentoring junior kitchen team members to maintain high culinary standards.
Monitoring food inventory, minimizing waste, and supporting the efficient use of ingredients and resources.
Ensuring smooth service during peak meal times, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Maintaining excellent communication with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and guest satisfaction.
Upholding the resort’s standards of presentation, portion control, and culinary artistry.

✅ Candidate Requirements

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate passion, dedication, and a drive to deliver memorable culinary experiences. The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar Junior Sous Chef role in a luxury resort or international hotel setting.
A solid foundation in international cuisines, including Mediterranean, Asian, and Maldivian flavors.
A strong command of written and spoken English is essential for effective communication.
Knowledge of Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) Standards will be considered a significant advantage.
Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure in a high-paced, guest-oriented environment.
A detail-oriented approach with a deep commitment to quality, cleanliness, and presentation.
A positive “can-do” attitude, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Culinary certifications or diplomas from recognized institutions will be considered a plus.
