About the Role: Commis – Team Canteen

As a Commis – Team Canteen, you’ll play a vital role in the day-to-day culinary operations of the staff dining facility. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the Sous Chef and contribute to the well-being of the resort’s internal community.

The staff canteen is more than just a place to eat — it’s where our team members recharge, socialize, and prepare for their shifts. As part of the Human Resources Department, this role combines culinary expertise with hospitality spirit to ensure our employees enjoy nutritious, delicious, and well-prepared meals daily.


Job Summary

The Commis – Team Canteen will assist in the preparation and presentation of meals for all team members of the resort. Under the guidance of the Sous Chef, you will ensure that the canteen operates smoothly, adhering to health and safety standards while delivering high-quality food in a timely manner. Your work will directly impact team satisfaction and productivity, contributing to the overall success of the resort’s operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook daily meals for the team canteen in accordance with set recipes and dietary standards.

  • Follow basic food hygiene and safety practices throughout all stages of food preparation and handling.

  • Ensure consistent quality and presentation in every dish served.

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation, including utensils, equipment, and kitchen surfaces.

  • Practice FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles for ingredient storage and usage.

  • Support inventory control and communicate stock requirements to the Sous Chef.

  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the Chef’s Office before the end of the shift.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the improvement of kitchen operations.

  • Abide by all grooming standards and workplace policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.

  • Assist with any other duties as assigned by the management team.


Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who are energetic, detail-oriented, and passionate about culinary arts. If you have previous experience working as a Commis in a luxury resort and are eager to grow your skills in a supportive and high-paced environment, we want to hear from you.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Commis in a 5-star resort, preferably in the Maldives or a similar tropical destination.

  • Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts is an added advantage.

  • Strong understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to follow recipes and food presentation standards.

  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.

  • Positive attitude, team spirit, and willingness to learn.
