About the Role: Commis Sommelier
As a Commis Sommelier, you will play a vital role in delivering an outstanding wine experience to guests. Working closely with the Head Sommelier and the Outlet Sommelier, you will ensure the smooth operation of wine service across the resort's restaurants and bars.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about wines, eager to expand their expertise, and ready to thrive in a luxury hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Head Sommelier and Outlet Sommelier: Assist in managing daily operations related to wine service, ensuring a seamless guest experience.
- Mise en Place Preparation: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization for wine storage and service areas, following the resort’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Bottle Preparation & Wine Service: Ensure wines are properly stored, prepared, and served at the right temperature, enhancing the overall dining experience.
- Managing Deliveries & Inventory: Organize and check wine deliveries, maintain inventory accuracy, and ensure wine stocks meet the resort’s service standards.
- Decanting & Carafing: Use Constance Moofushi's specialized decanting and carafing procedures to enhance the wine-tasting experience.
- Cigar & Beverage Service: Maintain expertise in fine cigars and beverages, offering premium recommendations to guests when required.
- Guest Interaction & Recommendations: Engage with guests to understand their preferences and offer wine selections that complement their meals.
- Coordination with Other Departments: Work closely with the culinary and restaurant teams to ensure that food and wine pairings align with the resort's dining concept.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must be a passionate, talented, and highly motivated professional with a strong foundation in wine knowledge and hospitality service.
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, or high-end resorts.
- Certification in wine studies (WSET Level 1 & 2 or equivalent international certification).
- Experience working as a Sommelier, Wine Steward, or in a similar role in a high-end hospitality setting.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong knowledge of wines and food pairings, with an understanding of the winemaking process, vineyards, and wine labels.
- Ability to recommend and pair wines that enhance the flavors of dishes served at the resort’s restaurants.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage guests and provide a memorable wine-tasting experience.
- Attention to detail in maintaining wine inventory and ensuring quality service.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate guest needs.
