Naais’ Calligraphy Skills Open Doors to Prestigious Opportunities

A Gifted Special Needs Student Breaks Barriers with Art

Hussain Naais, a Special Educational Needs (SEN) student at Jamaluddin School in the Maldives, is proving that talent knows no boundaries. Born unable to speak or hear, Naais has channeled his creativity into Islamic calligraphy, earning recognition and support from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. His remarkable journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of inclusive education.

Support from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has stepped forward to nurture Naais’ extraordinary talents. Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem revealed that the ministry will provide resources to enhance Naais' skills in Quranic writing and Islamic calligraphy.

"Naais will have access to modern facilities and expert guidance to help him refine his art," said Dr. Shaheem. "This opportunity is not just for him but will also inspire other children interested in Islamic studies and calligraphy."

The ministry has also announced plans for Naais to teach calligraphy at the Quran Center. In addition, his works will be displayed at the Islamic Center in Addu City and the Quran Center in Fuvahmulah City, further cementing his status as a role model for aspiring artists.

Breaking Boundaries in Education and Art

Naais’ journey has been one of perseverance. Born in Shaviyani Atoll Kanditheemu, his family moved to Malé when he was in Grade 4 to provide better educational opportunities. Now 21 years old, Naais continues to thrive at Jamaluddin School, where he has left a lasting impression.

A social media post by the school, featuring his intricate calligraphy, captured widespread attention. The post highlighted not only Naais’ artistic talent but also his ability to inspire others.

"Naais has indelibly left his mark, not just on the walls of Jamaluddin School, but in our hearts," the school shared. "He has proven that being differently abled does not limit one’s potential or the ability to conquer dreams."

Empowering Differently-Abled Artists

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs is taking a broader view by promoting inclusivity and skill development for students like Naais. By providing specialized training and public platforms to showcase talent, the ministry aims to encourage more individuals to pursue Islamic art and education.

Naais’ journey is far from over. With his talent and the support of his family, school, and government, the future holds endless possibilities for this remarkable artist. His work not only enriches Islamic art but also inspires countless others to dream beyond their limitations.
