About the Role – Kitchen Steward

A Kitchen Steward is a vital member of the food and beverage team, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen while supporting chefs and other staff in their daily operations. This role is ideal for individuals who take pride in maintaining high standards, have strong teamwork skills, and are eager to contribute to the overall success of a five-star dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and food storage spaces.
  • Operate dishwashing machines and handle manual cleaning of kitchen tools as required.
  • Assist chefs and kitchen staff by organizing ingredients, storing food properly, and maintaining an efficient workflow.
  • Dispose of waste and recyclables in accordance with the resort’s sustainability policies.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies as needed to maintain a well-equipped workspace.
  • Follow all food safety regulations and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) guidelines to uphold the highest hygiene standards.
  • Maintain the overall organization of the back-of-house area, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Assist with receiving, unloading, and properly storing deliveries of kitchen supplies and food items.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to ensure all operational needs are met efficiently.

Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a luxury resort or hotel in the Maldives.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • HACCP training is an advantage.
  • Education qualification up to GCE O-Level is desirable.
  • Basic proficiency in English to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving heavy kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • A positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Must be a Maldivian citizen (local candidates only).
