According to the Ministry of Tourism, the discussions centered on increasing tourist arrivals from Italy to the Maldives, exploring investment opportunities for Italian businesses, and identifying potential areas for further cooperation.
Italy currently ranks as the fifth-largest source market for tourists visiting the Maldives, with 108,000 Italian visitors arriving so far this year. Last year, Italy was the sixth-largest source market.
The Maldives has welcomed a total of 1.5 million tourists so far this year, with the government aiming to attract two million visitors by the end of 2024.
