A significant event is set to take place in Gulhi Falhu with the upcoming re-draw of land plots. This event follows the recent update to the land use plan and aims to distribute various plot sizes to eligible recipients. The allocation will happen on Tuesday at Dharubaaruge Rannabandeyri Maalam, following last night's announcement regarding the plot recipients.
Details of the Plot Allocation
The updated land use plan includes a total of 3,061 plots, which are distributed in various sizes to cater to the needs of different land seekers. Here’s a breakdown of the plots available for allocation:
- 669 plots of 1,250 square feet
- 1,234 plots of 1,650 square feet

- 158 plots of 2,850 square feet
- 49 plots of 3,250 square feet
- 21 plots of 3,650 square feet
This allocation also accommodates the initial plots from Giraavaru Falhu, allowing recipients who wish to switch to Gulhi Falhu to do so.
For those who were successful in receiving land in the reclaimed areas, land registry documents have already been issued.
Background of the Reclamation Project
The Gulhi Falhu reclamation project began on October 17, 2019, under the previous administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. This ambitious project, valued at MVR 2 billion, aims to reclaim a substantial area of 65 hectares. The project was awarded to Boskalis, a renowned Dutch company known for its expertise in reclamation and land management.
Under the current administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the scope of the project has expanded. An additional 85 hectares have been incorporated into the reclamation efforts, with plans for a second phase that will cover another 150 hectares. These developments indicate a growing commitment to addressing land scarcity and promoting sustainable urban development in the Maldives.
As reclamation efforts continue, the upcoming allocation of plots represents a pivotal moment for the community in Gulhi Falhu. It not only provides individuals with the opportunity to secure land for residential and commercial purposes but also contributes to the overall growth and infrastructure development of the region. With proper planning and implementation, these reclaimed areas can transform into vibrant communities that foster economic activity and improve the quality of life for residents.
The allocation event on Tuesday will be a vital step in realizing these goals, and recipients need to prepare accordingly.
