The Chief Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the Director of Engineering by overseeing daily engineering operations, leading technical projects, and ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure systems operate seamlessly. Key Responsibilities
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all engineering systems across the resort. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing day-to-day engineering operations to ensure uninterrupted and safe resort functionality.
- Supporting the Director of Engineering in planning, executing, and monitoring technical projects and upgrades.
- Leading preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend asset lifespan.
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards, engineering regulations, and JOALI Maldives operational procedures.
- Managing energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability practices in line with JOALI’s environmental values.
- Coordinating closely with other departments such as Housekeeping, Front Office, and Food and Beverage to support smooth resort operations.
- Mentoring and supervising engineering team members, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills Required

- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Certification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
