Meeru Maldives is seeking a skilled and motivated Sushi / Teppanyaki Chef to join its dynamic culinary team. Key Responsibilities

As a Sushi / Teppanyaki Chef at Meeru Maldives, your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee and support the Asian Wok kitchen in food preparation and production.
  • Ensure that all chefs and cooks follow standardized recipes and specifications.
  • Monitor kitchen inventory and promptly communicate any unavailable ingredients to the Chef de Cuisine or Executive Sous Chef.
  • Inspect coolers and freezers regularly to maintain proper storage procedures.
  • Step in for the Chef de Cuisine-Asian Wok as needed, ensuring all kitchen responsibilities are fulfilled.
  • Adjust daily production levels based on guest counts to minimize waste and optimize food turnover.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and food quality in all culinary operations.
  • Support and motivate a diverse team of culinary professionals from multiple nationalities.

Qualifications and Skills Required

To excel in this role, candidates should have:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a Sushi / Teppanyaki Chef or in a similar culinary role within a luxury resort environment.
  • Relevant culinary training or a combination of education, training, and experience providing the necessary skills.
  • Fire Safety, First Aid, and Kitchen Safety training preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations, including fractions, ratios, and percentages.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and hospitality software such as Micros Opera.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, capable of working with a diverse team.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and food safety in all dishes.
  • Passion for Asian cuisine and creativity in food presentation and preparation.
