Position: Marine Biologist
Location: The Barefoot Eco Hotel, Hanimaadhoo, Maldives
The Barefoot Eco Hotel is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Marine Biologist to join our eco-focused team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about marine ecology, conservation, and sustainable tourism, who thrive in guest-facing and collaborative environments.
As a Marine Biologist, you will support snorkeling trips, lead guest excursions to observe marine megafauna, and deliver educational presentations and activities that promote marine conservation awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Support snorkeling trips and lead mega fauna monitoring excursions for guests.
- Develop and implement the hotel’s Eco Concept, including existing and new projects.
- Establish and maintain collaborations with local institutions and charities, conducting related staff and guest activities (e.g., beach cleanups).
- Deliver presentations on marine biology, ecology, and conservation, and screen marine documentaries for guests.
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives and eco-education programs at the resort.
- Work closely with the team to ensure high-quality guest experiences.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Qualified Marine Biologist with a strong understanding of marine ecology and conservation.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of German, French, or Italian is preferred.
- Certified Rescue Diver or higher level certification preferred.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
- Passionate about sustainability and eco-tourism.
- Ability to engage guests through educational and interactive activities.
