Muraidhoo Staff Salaries Disclosed Following Transparency Request
In response to public interest, the Parliament Secretariat has disclosed staffing and salary details of Muraidhoo, the official residence of the Speaker of Parliament. The information was provided following a Right to Information (RTI) request.
According to the Secretariat, Muraidhoo has four employees with a combined monthly salary expenditure of under MVR 100,000. Initially, Parliament had sought to keep these details confidential, but following a transparency request from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the information was made public.
The RTI Request and Parliamentary Response
The process began when Mihaaru News requested information on the number of employees at Muraidhoo and their pay structure. However, the Parliament sought an extension on the request, citing parliamentary privilege. The Committee on Security Services, also known as the 241 Committee and led by PNC Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah, initially chose to withhold the information.
President Dr. Muizzu, advocating for public transparency, formally requested that the committee release the details. In response, the committee reversed its initial decision and approved the release, aligning with the government’s commitment to transparency and public access to information.
Breakdown of Muraidhoo Staffing and Salaries
The following staff members work at Muraidhoo, each receiving a specified salary package that includes a base salary, allowances, and pension contributions.
1. Chief of Staff: ‘Mundu’ Adam Haleem
- Total Monthly Compensation: MVR 39,380
- Salary: MVR 21,000
- Pension: MVR 1,470
- Special Allowance: MVR 9,450
- Living Allowance: MVR 5,000
- Phone Allowance: MVR 1,000
- Service Allowance: MVR 4,400
Adam Haleem, a former journalist known locally as "Mundu," serves as the Chief of Staff, overseeing the operations at Muraidhoo and coordinating tasks with other staff members.
2. Director General: Ali Ashfaq

- Salary: MVR 12,400
- Pension: MVR 868
- Special Allowance: MVR 5,580

Ali Ashfaq, popularly known for his achievements in football, serves as Director General. His role likely involves managing various aspects of logistics and administrative support for the Speaker’s residence.
