Milaidhoo Maldives is seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier to join our distinguished Food & Beverage team. As part of our world-class dining program, you will bring your expertise in wines and pairings to elevate every guest experience, delivering exceptional service in line with our luxury brand standards.
The Sommelier will curate and manage the resort’s exclusive wine collection, assist guests in selecting the perfect wines to complement their meals, and support our culinary team in developing unique dining experiences. Key Responsibilities
As a Sommelier at Milaidhoo Maldives, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the resort’s extensive wine cellar and ensuring proper storage, rotation, and presentation of wines.
- Providing expert recommendations to guests on wine selection and food pairings.
- Collaborating with chefs and F&B managers to develop and update wine menus.
- Conducting wine tastings, training sessions, and pairing events for both guests and staff.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring compliance with procurement procedures.
- Upholding service excellence standards in all aspects of wine presentation and guest interaction.
- Identifying opportunities to upsell premium wines and enhance the overall dining experience.
Qualifications and Skills Required
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise and genuine passion for wine service. Required qualifications include:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sommelier in a luxury 5-star resort or fine dining environment.
- Certified Sommelier (WSET Level 3 or equivalent certification).
- Comprehensive knowledge of global wines, vineyards, and pairing techniques.
- Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to upsell and enhance guest dining experiences through thoughtful recommendations.
- Fluency in English; additional European language skills are an advantage.
- Professional appearance, cultural awareness, and a guest-focused approach.
