Jawakara Islands is currently hiring for several positions, each offering a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, world-class team in a luxurious resort environment.

HOSTESS [CHINESE SPEAKING]

As a Hostess, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, welcoming them to the resort and ensuring they have an unforgettable dining experience. Your role will involve greeting and seating guests, managing reservations, and ensuring the dining areas are prepared to the highest standard. Fluent Chinese language skills are required for this position to assist with Chinese-speaking guests and provide personalized service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome guests with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Assist guests with reservations and manage the dining area’s seating arrangement.
  • Ensure guests are comfortable and promptly address any special requests.
  • Collaborate with the front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide information about the resort’s offerings and services to guests.
  • Ensure the dining area remains clean and organized.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Fluent in both English and Chinese.
  • Previous experience in a hospitality or customer service role is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • A passion for providing exceptional guest service.

SOUS CHEF

The Sous Chef plays a key role in the kitchen, supporting the Executive Chef in the preparation of meals while ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently and adheres to hygiene and safety standards. You will lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef and will be responsible for maintaining the quality of food preparation, as well as ensuring inventory is properly managed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in planning and executing the menu.
  • Supervise and mentor kitchen staff to ensure consistent quality and performance.
  • Ensure food preparation meets the resort's high standards of presentation, taste, and hygiene.
  • Assist with managing kitchen inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Ensure that all food safety regulations and hygiene standards are followed.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a luxury resort or fine dining establishment.
  • Strong culinary skills with a passion for food and innovation.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

SOMMELIER

As a Sommelier at Jawakara Islands, you will be responsible for curating the resort’s extensive wine list, offering wine pairings for guests, and providing expert advice on wine selection. You will also play a role in educating the team about wines, wine service, and ensuring the wine cellar is properly stocked. This position requires a deep knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and trends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Curate and maintain the resort's wine list, ensuring it reflects the best global offerings.
  • Provide expert recommendations for wine pairings and assist guests with wine selections.
  • Educate and train the resort’s staff on wine knowledge and service techniques.
  • Ensure the wine cellar is properly stocked, organized, and maintained.
  • Ensure proper wine storage conditions to preserve quality and taste.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends in wine and beverage.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Certification from a recognized wine academy (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers or WSET).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Sommelier, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and wine pairing techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with guests confidently.
  • Passionate about wine and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

HEAD BARTENDER

The Head Bartender will be responsible for managing the resort’s bar team, ensuring the preparation and service of drinks meets Jawakara Islands’ standards of quality and hospitality. You will create unique cocktail menus, maintain inventory, and ensure a safe and efficient bar operation. Your role is essential in providing guests with memorable and enjoyable beverage experiences.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the bar team, ensuring exceptional service and drink preparation.
  • Create innovative cocktail menus and ensure consistency in drink quality.
  • Maintain inventory and order bar supplies to ensure a fully stocked bar at all times.
  • Ensure the bar area is clean, organized, and safe.
  • Train and mentor junior bar staff on service techniques, drink knowledge, and hospitality standards.
  • Handle guest requests, complaints, and feedback with professionalism.

You will assist in managing guest requests, handling reservations, and ensuring the resort operates efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily operational activities across different departments.
  • Handle guest requests, ensuring their needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Assist with managing guest reservations and ensuring the resort is prepared for guest arrivals.
  • Maintain and update records and reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
